Hi Buddy - good blurb about what your doing with cattle. Run a few Black angus myself in a cow - calf operation.

Agree with you that saleyards arent what they used to be. Most people around our way geenrally try to avoid them - to cut out the middle man, transport costs etc. The thing with cattle sales is that no matter which way you go or what price you get you'll always think you might have got a better deal the other way lol.

Generally agree that farming land usually works out as a good investment - but wouldnt hold out great hopes of cattle paying it off. For more pro's and con's vist the big US cattle discussion board where this issue is debated until the cows come home! What ever you decide good luck with it.

Buddy you sound like you've been around cattle a few years - like me - and once its in your blood - it tends to stay there - but somedays I do wish the returns were a bit better. Once again thanks for the post - regards Southoz.
