It is really interest in disguise so basically the bank buys the house for the purchaser at say $1m and then the purchaser agrees to buy the house from the bank for $1.5m spread over 10 years. The extra $0.5m is effectively the interest in the loan, just that the structure is differen and there is to legal reference to interest.

As to religion generally it would be far nicer if I was not vilified by Christians every Sunday saying I am going to hell for being a non believer. Or being told I'm an infidel for the same reason. The weird thing is both Christians and Muslims pray to different gods and can not both be right. So at least one lot us off to Christian or Muslim hell
