I think you came very close to answering your own questions here - whether you did it deliberately or inadvertently makes no difference, but your following post actually says it very well......

but there are times when even what we want to believe is so incredulous that we are forced to re-examine the basis on which we accept those beliefs......
you will find that most of the reputable people who are asking questions about 911 are doing so because they know the official explanations are untenable - they defy common sense - they are asking for an official impartial re-examination of 911 not necessarily because they have a theory of what really happened but simply because they know the official story cannot be true......
if you want to start with the biggest absurdity - try imagining how a handful of ill-trained militants could have executed simultaneous attacks on the most iconic buildings in New York using large passenger aircraft they hijacked using little knives as weapons - which then flew unchallenged for more than two hours in the most protected airspace on earth, performing maneouvres most commercial pilots have said would be beyond their own capabilities - and all orchestrated by a guy hiding in a cave in Afghanistan...... does that really sound like a plan?.....

understanding 911 is not easy, it is a complex intertwining of many ambitions and motives, ask yourself "could it really have happened like this?"...... and in the course of your inquiry you will find some of your most cherished beliefs completely overturned - and that's hard to take, just as your post clearly stated.....
you have a choice - take the easy way out and accept the US Adminstration account of 911, or answer to your self-respect and discover the depth of deception perpetrated on the world by a handful of greedy powerful interests who consider themselves masters of your universe...... entirely your choice.....
