One would think that giant battery manufacturers such as Panasonic & LG would have already worked out the cheapest mode of li input to their massive operations
and if there is significant profit to be made in carbonate enrichment, that they would have already processing plants in place or alliances.
(There is not enough info available
on GXY's offtake agreements to ascertain price & quantities. It seems fishy to have an offtake agreement with a disclaimer in fine print to say parties are not bound by price or quantities)
Also, GXY will be a new commer to the block and as everyone
knows,li carbonate feed to battery manufacturers whether that be in China, Japan or elsewhere is a mature industry,
that GXY will have to compete for market share.Sure these
battery manufacturers welcome a new supplier because it prevents price increases or drives down the price.
Furthermore, the world's biggest li Carbonate plant has been commissioned in South America and it too is pumping
carbonate into the market. So todays price projections may not hold up by 20i3-14 when demand is forecast to rise due
to a potential oversupply of the market mostly from South America.
Also bear in mind that the Socialist Government in Bolivia (who owns the world's biggest reserves of Li) has put a temporary embargo on further Western development of Li there.
What if they do a sweeheart deal with China's Peoples Republic (who are socialist sympathisers) for exclusive Chinese access to this resource.
Do you think that good old Aussie hard rock Li would stand a snowball's chance in hell unless the Chinese already own GXY?
