    IMO it was good to see the Monckton - Denniss exchange at the Press Club. No-one has a mortgage on being right & IMO both presented their personal views well.

    That said, Monckton failed to demonstrate an understanding of some of the fundamental issues. While conceding that global temperatures have increased he had no apparent idea as to what that meant today, let alone for the future. The URL below alone describes how our planet is not experiencing 'average weather' but greater extremes as well as higher averages.

    Nor did he demonstrate an understanding of the rate of increase in desertification, loss of arable land, soil acidification, ocean acidification or deforestation, let alone the impact of population increase & global conflicts.

    As you acknowledged though, he did assert that his do-nothing policy was preferable to Tony Abbott's 'direct action' spending.
