I disagree that silence does not amount to yes. For, that was a ruling on a precedent. And if you take that in consideration, if you don't say/vote anything on the Scheme, it means ON THE EYES OF THE LAW, that you have no objections to it, for if you did you would have made use of your vote to say NO.
On a Takeover instead, they need your vote to say that you have accepted the offer. If you don't reply, it simply means that you have refused it.
Besides, the reason for my reposting of that highlighted part, was for bringing to the attention of the forum what is required for a vote to be counted in a Schem of Arrangement. And that is, IMHO, that a person has to be present at the meeting for his vote to count.
