21/07/2011 08:29AM AEST
MELBOURNE (Dow Jones)--A major mining company may gatecrash Chinese conglomerate Sichuan Hanlong Group's A$1.44 billion bid for Central Africa-focused iron ore developer Sundance Resources Ltd. (SDL.AU), the Australian Financial Review reports Thursday, citing unnamed sources close to the transaction.
The suitor "is said to be already inside the Sundance data room" and has visited the company's Mbalam project that straddles Cameroon and the Republic of Congo, the newspaper reports.
Representatives from Sundance and its adviser UBS are understood to be meeting in Beijing this week with Hanlong and adviser Merrill Lynch, the AFR says, adding that Deutsche Bank will also advise the Chinese company.
