** It has announced Sydney's state-of-the-art wind powered desalination plant has received its final tick of approval, and has been formally handed to its operators $89 million under budget.

The plant has passed all of its performance tests and is operating at full capacity, six months after being first switched on.

The plant's power needs have been 100 per cent offset by wind energy from day one, from a new wind farm with 67 turbines at Bungendore.

PS: Drove past them last sunday morning on the way to Sydney. None of them was turning! Drove past them on the way back to Canberra via Tarago / Bungendore...None was turning. :)
