At one time I might have shared your view about everyone having a gun to stop someone.

But then I considered what if I mistook a situation and shot someone.

What if in a domestic dispute one of us was mad enough to use a weapon that was handy.

What if a child gained access to a weapon in the house, and you can't stop kids from getting to everything.

So I went from insisting on a weapon after we had a home invasion to getting rid of them.

I see your point but I think the dangers outweigh the possible advantages.

So no absolute correct position, except look at the homicides per capita in the US with guns and how many are domestic etc.
