I agree pdexter. Whilst it would have been perfect if one of the victims had a gun and took out the killer with it, most feel society still is much better off without the threat of guns being carried around by individuals.

Imagine being in a restaurant knowing that half the patrons have guns on them - you wouldn't dare look at someone's wife or any man in the eye. Imagine if a fight broke out there, as they often do due to the mix of alcohol, etc.

What's occurred is a rare one off that has caught much attention as a result. But we can change all that by turning western nations into middle eastern hell holes where shootings are so frequent they don't get reported. Look at Australia - we still talk about that young kid at the cricket field who thought he'd take on the cops with a knife. The rarity of anyone being shot in Australia is a blessing - that makes it even more strange that anyone would want to carry a gun in the extremely unlikely case they may need to use it.

But then again, if everyone had a gun on them then most arguments can be settled there and then, rather than clogging up our courts with trivial neighbourly disputes, etc.
