Great post knackers!
I agree on all points. Telstra is driving the PIE wagon and they will have strict non-disclosure agreements that stipulate what, when and how information can be released to the market.
The point about multiple businesses within Telstra having an interest in this hits the nail on the head and I would like to share my thoughts on the businesses I see with and interest and why:
Payphones - Replacement of the 18,000 odd existing payphones
Mobiles - Prepaid TopUps, Bill Payment, Change of account Details or mobile plan, unlimited data usage from your Iphone whilst in the vicinity of a webphone included in your monthly plan
Bigpond - order movies, pay or manage your bigpond account, unlimited data usage from your IPad or laptop whilst in the vicinity of a webphone included in your monthly Bigpond plan. Pay per minute and monthly subscription wifi access
Telstra Shop - Billing, product comparisons and user demo's either from the webphone screen or from your portable device within range of the shop or any webphone for that matter
Cloud - Delivering high speed applications and content from the cloud such as Video, Gaming, Social networking etc.
AVG - This group formed on Aug 1...Pie Annoument on Aug 1. IMO the deal will be a JV and it will be signed and managed within AVG.
All Ords down big time today...PIE up! Those who saw the announcement as an exit opportunity will regret it IMO...I bought some more yesterday.
Finally, this thing about needing a CR was one jouranalists opinion. PIE spent $200mil on R&D last quarter - would they do that if they were worried about running out of money? This deal will be done very soon and no CR will be required IMO.
Worst case, a CR would be done after the big announcement to ensure take up of the offer.
