Davidols..There's agreat book called "The Great Disruption" I think you should read..The system is an illusion and your faith in Gov is the very reason we are in this mess..You really think these super'rich' and pollies can control this in a balanced manner?? REALLY?? You over estimate these people I think and over look fundamental UNIVERSAL laws that are ALWAYS in play..

As for Hippies..Are you talking about those who DO live within their means and understand that once people earn over 15k per yr their true happiness does not increase at all..That is a very well covered study proven worldwide..People who believe otherwise are dreaming..

Think of it like this..What stress does a man put himself under when he buys new car worth say 50k?? Firstly the effort consumed in his short life to finance it..AND THEN the stress to worry about it getting stolen,scratched??

Then the "hippy" with a functional vehicle which still gets him from a to b ..Worth about 5 -10K paid for, and doesn't care if someone cracks it in the carpark with his door..etc..It's all relevant but ifyou seriously believe this mess can now be contained in a REALISTIC way..you need to do some research!!!

I mean this in a respectful manner BTW!!!
