RE Hippies ... what I meant by those are collective group that would like to see the destruction of the system to push some idealistic agenda (that is often short sighted).
Wishing that the man/system would collapse and we all go to living in a happy care free community where we all grow our own food in our backyard and everyone is happy is a fairytale. I'm not going to go into how such a society could not work (it may work for a limited number of like minded people in some cases), but taking satisfaction in pain caused to others to push your point is wrong.
Kind of like how the environmentalists were taking great satisfaction during the Nuclear crisis because it "proves" to them they are right.
Note: I'm not materialistic at all, I have a 8 year old 2nd hand Honda, and I live in a share house.
