Certainly corporate debt may be seen as less risky than equities, or even government debt (depending on the government, though I notice US Treasuries have gone up since the S&P announcement). But this really depends on the company, and Alchemia is hardly IBM or Microsoft.
I think some kind of convertible note is most likely, but that's likely to be just a diluting as a capital raising.
