Here's another example we shouldn't let slip under the radar and is pertinent to this thread. Anonymous1 posted '49625' that,
''My parents tried to buy their first home in 1971 for $12,500
They had $14,000 cash saved, both worked full time.''
Kinsella's post pointing out the huge increases in house prices over the years since then, post 49636, clearly show the impossibility of a young couple working to save enough to buy their first home today. Let alone having a big chunk left over.
