This old news article with details of a new way of dealing with mining applications may have been superceded...

every chance in the everchanging regulatory world of minin g rights in SA...
but I think that its worth reading and checking if this process occurs because if it is in Place it would seem to me that
Mining right applications made after a certain date ....would be first given this Council of Geoscience green light regarding availability of 'tenure?'or resource?
BEFORE an application could be put to the DMR.
    .
Sounds like a good idea to me and how would that impact on the squabbles re HDs?...at least it seems to shift some of the responsabilty ie litigation away from DMR?

As I said an old article ...
I cant find much of real substance on the Council for Geoscience site....
Where are the "MAPS" with available lapsed mining rights etc??
or maybe the info has NOW all been put on samrad?
A question for Susan at the Africa Downunder conference.?

Anyway I would think that those getting to second base and being OKd to apply for a mining right....could feel assured that there was no overlap and no old order folk going to come out of the woodwork at you.Just my impression which bodes well for this most recent mining application i think.
