Comment: Compared to recent action ? today was flat. :) An up day on low volume ? does not inspire confidence. Breadth was poor (Russell2000).

NewHighs/NewLows came in at 7/24. The New Lows are back under the panic selling level ? but we still need to see some revival in the New Highs figure.

The Materials Sector +0.64% and Energy Sector 0.74%. Those numbers provide a little hope for the Australian market on Monday. Seven of nine S&P Sectors were up, with Financials the worst -0.7%. The Banking Sector was down, -2.18%. Semi-conductors was down, -0.42%.

Germany +3.45%
London +3.04%

Gold in U.S. Dollars is down -1.21%. Gold in Oz Dollars is down -1.34%. AUD/USD was flat, +0.03% to finish at 103.56. EWA (the ETF for Australian shares) rose 0.57%.

Technical Comment on the DJ Industrial Average:

The DJIA finished at 11269.02. Solidly above the November, 2010 support/resistance level at 11000.
Below the 13-Day MA. Negative.
Below the 150-Day MA. Negative.
Indicators:
Stochastic: 21.6. Above its signal line. Marginally above 20. Neutral.
The 13-Day MA is below the 150-Day MA. Long-term negative.
RSI.9 is at 40.9. Nudging above 40. Needs to climb above the mid-line at 50.
MACD Histogram below Zero. Negative.
MACD below zero. Negative.
CCI.9: -55.2. Back above -100. Positive.

Nothing definite yet ? but the technical picture has improved a little. No ?buy? signal.

The lack of demand today is cause for concern.
