Labor 72 + 4 (Oakeshott, Windsor, Wilkie, Bandt) = 76

Dobell is a marginal seat, if Labor lose it in a by-election they would have 75 and so would the Coalition.

A new election would likely see the Coalition governing in their own right.

Labor will no doubt do anything to support Thompson, it wouldn't matter if he'd committed mass murder on live TV and got caught holding the murder weapon.

Such are the scruples of the ALP.
