Man charged with attempting to murder officer
A man will face court in New South Wales tomorrow, charged with the attempted murder of a police officer on the state's far north coast.

Two police officers went to a home in south Tweed Heads at around 3:00am AEST, after concerns for the welfare of a man inside.

Police allege a man armed with a knife came out of the bathroom and threatened one of the officers.

Capsicum spray was used to subdue the man before both officers struggled with him.

A 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries, before being released and taken to a police station for questioning.

Neither of the officers was injured.

The man has been charged with attempted murder, using a weapon to avoid apprehension, and assaulting police.
