It's posts like this that make Hotcopper worthwhile.If any journalists are snooping around these threads,posts like this is what should be in the newspapers...not your typical rubbish you normally report on,but great stories like rjaadave's.

You know,rjaadave,it's interesting to dwell on our progress over the years.I am not sure where I read it,but I was reading about Newt Gingrich,as head of Congress House Committee on Science.He was speaking to the US Congress about developments in science and technology.I cannot remember the exact words,but the message was this:-

In the next 30 or so years,we are going to discover as much, as we have discovered over the last 120 years.To put it another way,as he explained,it would be like him talking to Congress in 1890 and trying to tell them about TV's,Computers,mobile phones,aeroplanes,MRI/CT,lawnmowers,dishwashers etc,etc.All unheard of back then and all unimaginable.And to think we are going to do it all over again,except in 30 years instead of 120yrs.............The mind boggles!
