re:gyro: what is wrong with yak ....????? I don't know if anyone else has answered this but here it is anyway.
In general terms, the noun is "aborigine"
Thus: "I was talking to an aborigine this morning who said..."
and
"Most aborigines believe Australia to be their land"
In general terms the adjective is "aboriginal"
Thus: "The history of the aboriginal peoples is a long one..."
and
"The plant, waratha, is depicted in much of the aboriginal art."
Often the two terms are confused but I wouldn't cosider that as a hanging offence, nor do I consider it as offensive (other than to grammar) to anyone to cross the use of these terms. In any case, a great many aboriginies prefer the term Koori, or other terms relating to their country or tribe.
Names is the last of their worries. Racism and beaurocratic bungling and thieving is.
