"but since the money was repaid I don't think they will see any reason to pursue the matter. Even more so because this matter is about six years old." (so that makes it OK does it???)

On this twisted reckoning, unless any murder, fraud, rape, robbery, or any heinous crime was not comitted "yesterday",
all is forgiven wuth the poassgae of time and lapsing memories, and the alleged perpetrator is allowed to get off scot free. eg. Jack the Ripper, if finally positively identified, even though now long dead, should no longer be villified and condemned by history, as what he/she did happened a long time ago!

Or- "he belted up his wife ten years ago and put her in hospital, in a coma, with permanent crippling and scarring, but he's seen as a good guy again now, as all that happened a long time ago." (So it's a lesser crime because it's not recent???)

Crazy logic, that! And shameful. Does the passing of time become an excuse not to do something?

But you hear this weak argument so often!

Time does not erase criminal or murderous behaviour, or dilute the severity of any allegations of misbehaviour, no mtter how far back in time the applicable event.

If this were so, why then do police departments keep revisiting and continuing to investigate cold case files so long after the event.

Caring societies should not forget the wronged or the silent, deceased, victims.Or their families - who have to live with the memories, and the ongoing pain and consquences.
