thepinto, to use your analogy - if the house is an unrenovated pile of crap that needs everything rebuilt you pay accordingly. However the BOW house is in a very nice neighbourhood, has strong foundations, structurally sound walls, opportunity to build a second floor and get water views . . a renovators delight. Such property does attract a higher price than a knock me down.
