the block - a disaster, page-41

Many people are still struggling to grasp the severity of the outcome on The Block, and many people seem to be confusing themselves in the process.

This show might be about ratings - but the masses don't know that.

This show might be about advertising revenue and product placement - but the masses don't know that.

This show might have set the reserve prices too high, and they might have over-capitalised on the renovations, and the producers might have payed too much for the original 4 houses in the first place - but the masses don't know that.

While is deep-thinking folk here on Hotcopper might be discussing and debating all of the above, that's not what the masses are doing.

All the masses know about, and all they saw, was a miserable outcome for some likeable people who were trying the hardest to win a property show. And to win the show, the contestants had to make the highest amount of money. The houses didn't sell, the contestants failed, and no one made any money on 'property'. On the surface, it would appear you can no longer make 'easy money' on property. And the masses wouldn't have thought or questioned anything further than that.

And it's the easily-brainwashed masses who make up 95% of Australia's property market, not us chatterboxes here on Hotcopper.

The clear message is: this show has delt a huge kick in the guts towards property sentiment in this country.
