Yes South Gobi built the road in the wrong spot. It was still too far up the river. If they had taken it further down the river which would not have been a much longer road they would have been able to barge all year round. This is what they are working on at the moment however it is not just a case of getting bulldozers in and grading a road. You have to buy the land, obtain permits etc etc. This takes time and probably a lot longer than in Australia.

In regards to contractors.You go to tender and once the tender is won then there is around a 6 to 12 month lead time for the contractors to get equipment to site and start working. I know this as I have just started arranging equipment for one of our sites that we are looking at mining and have been told the same thing that Bayan has been told. We had to book our drill rigs 6 months in advance etc etc.

It is a case of planning 12 months in advance whilst equipment is scarce. Luckily we knew this beforehand and have scheduled all of our programs accordingly.
