In fact slater and gordon and the unions were so close that Gillard had relationships with two leaders.

One of them turned out to be a conman from the mwu who was running some sort of protection racket.

Apparently he used to go to businesses with a deal whereby he would ensure industrial peace by union members.

the protection racket was bad enough, but the money wasn't going to the MWU but into gillard's boyfriend's pocket.

What he used to do is do these deals and get employers to make out cheques to what they thought was going into an mwu account which was in fact Gillard's boyfriends personal account.

Gillard helped the boyfriend set up one of these bodgy accounts and may have benefited from the contents of the account.
money used in the account was used to buy clothes and do renovations to gillard's house

the labor party used to have connections with unions and other left leaning types
eg on the union side you have types like combet and shorten and on the left side you have types like rudd and stephen smith

but things have changed. Rudd has been knifed and Gillard and her union mates - combet and shorten are running the show now.
