Ask yourself the question, Who would have made a more attractive choice for the independents, Malcolm Turnbull or an ultraright teabag clown? The independents were democratically elected and they made their choices as elected representatives. How many of these independents swore allegiance to either party before the election?

Remember that Turnbull is a person towards the centre of the Liberal Party. The teabaggers on this forum might imagine otherwise but Turnbull will appeal to a wider spectrum of the population. That makes him more electable as PM than someone from the far right. When the election is called, all sorts of issues will be significant.

The ultraright will be haunted by the spectre of workchoices and the ultraright constituency are their own worse enemy in this respect. How often do the teabaggers on this forum tell us "how wonderful workchoices really was and how much better off we would be if we still had this particular union bashing cudgel? What is the wider electorate supposed to think when a leader who acknowledges he is a liar says workchoices is annihilated while his cheer squad is still parading its cadaver?
