Myronc, if you look at question 3 in this link

    https://www.fbo.gov/?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=39c054ccc438767a195eeaef72c649b6&tab=core&_cview=1

    It says this-:

    Question #3:
The salient characteristics in Appendix A (pg 111) seem to point to specific product types that would otherwise be obtained on a GSA Schedule. Is the intent of this program, then, to provide the integration and COP views, and not to procure these devices as well?
    Response:
The Governments intent is to procure the types of items required by PM-Force Protection Systems using this IDIQ contract, that are not under another contract.
No, the hardware and ancillary services such as installation, training and maintenance support is all that is required. Intent is to utilize Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment.

ID/IQ means Indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, what that means is that the contract runs over a period of time i.e. three years say and the purchase of items can happen anytime within that period, and I believe the indefinite quantity means that they may purchase an amount of things today and at a later date buy some more, up to a certain total amount on the contract.

That's my understanding of ID/IQ from what I have read, now if you read question 3 "Response:
The Governments intent is to procure the types of items required by PM-Force Protection Systems using this IDIQ contract, that are not under another contract.
No, the hardware and ancillary services such as installation, training and maintenance support is all that is required. Intent is to utilize Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment."

I believe that means what it says, they will buy the equipment required under an ID/IQ contract they also say this which I believe is self explanatory "Intent is to utilize Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment."

I understand what the adder has been saying for a long time now about TRL levels, my belief is that they have been deliberately withholding the TRL levels from view on metalstorm weapons, the US is under no obligation to tell us what they really are, it is their system for their use to decide what to purchase, I guess we will know soon enough if they buy some weapons from us, that would mean they are at TRL9

But there is also something else to consider, if you read the questions in that link it basically says that the Primes are responsible for the contractors materials they take on that responsibility, is it the Primes who will decide on the weapons maturity? don't know?

I also noticed that the people who work at the contractors to the Primes must not be foreigners? lucky perhaps that we have metalstorm Inc?
