Just reading the last few posts.

AntN - Be the change you want to see in the world. Gandhi.
Everyone thinks their effect is minimal. Even corporations.

Deforestation is a serious issue. Once the soil structure is destroyed you can not get it back. This is different to effect equilibriums of nature. This is breaking one side altogether. And remember its not just important what the number of trees are, the variety and improved photosynthetic abilities acquired over millenia are also important.
We should plant our own forests and only log those.

BSW - This is an emotional topic for some people. I don't mean any malice towards preachers of religion when I call the AGW scientists more akin to preachers. To me, in my opinion, preachers is exact word for them and their smarter-than-thou approach. As such, I don't take any offence when the counterparts are thrown at me. However, I understand your sentiments and will refrain from my usage in this forum.

MobyT - Bushfires hmm. I don't know what to say. We all know that CO2 is a fire-suppressment and that Oxygen feeds fires right? Or that fires don't usually start spontaneously. They need an intense chemical reaction, lighter, open fire, bottle near dry grass, something to create the ignition.
Climate change can effect the intensity of bushfires. However, Climate change has always occurred. Before us and will after us. Now if you believe ACo2 -> Increase in Bushfires then thats a different point.
Also you might be interested in knowing that intense dry weather conditions caused by ENSO have a huge impact on bushfire intensity. I am not sure how you will prove the 30% human CO2 component is the leading cause of the intensity of fiercest bushfires of 2009 and 1983 when those were the strongest El Nino years. Good luck. Until you have this evidence don't parade the bushfire victims as human shields for your beliefs. Have some compassion.

My personal opinion. Bushfires will never stop. We are a dry arid continent and sparks can come from anywhere and given enough time the fierce bushfires will happen. We cant move towns or to ban all lighters, bottles, fuel, etc from these towns. What we can do is prepare and spend money on adapting! Instead of spending billions on trying to "calm" nature, I would rather spend billions in RnD for fire retardent housing, bushfire early detection methods, town "moating" or "walling" ideas, etc etc
