    Menta, we saw this scenario play out in 2008. What were two assets that ended that year higher than they begun? That's right, USD and gold. Gold took an initial hit but quickly recovered as a flight to safety with no counter-party risk. Furthermore, gold in currencies other than USD absolutely soared. During deflation, demand for money increases and gold is the ultimate form of money.
