i'd like to see everskim, the bright spark that he is, find the property tax revenue black hole that any government of any day would have to fill from other revenue streams if he had his way and destroyed the one and only way a government can target taxes specifically to property owners.
everskim had to go back to 2000 to scrape up $15billion worth of cost "to the tax payer" to get some sort of outcry on property. I've only gone back to FY2005 to show you 167 billion of tax revenues from property over same period. take out tax deductions due to neg gearing, take out grants for FHB (remember the losses hit is born by the owner no one else) as you can see the benefits reaped far outway any 'costs' incurred.
By far the concept of a property bubble 'costing' anything in the context of how this thread was delivered is nothing short of rediculous!
Australian Property Tax Revenues at all levels of Gov.
2004-2005 24 billion
2005-2006 25 billion
2006-2007 29 billion
2007-2008 31 billion
2008-2009 27 billion
2009-2010 31 billion
