Hi Kingpins - didn't realise that was already in legislation (at least in Victoria). I agree all of the things you mentioned are things that need to be fixed in a relatively quick time frame. Like you said though the fix could take a while at least a week in many cases due to the unavailability of tradesmen. I suppose it could come down to what is a reasonable time frame and tenants need to be realistic in how long it takes an issue to be fixed. I just see an avenue based on the article where a tenant can unreasonably request compensation for events that will happen in life and may take a while to fix - I think that the key should be that the owner is working to address the problem as soon as reasonably practicable.
