Brisbane to face water restrictions from next week
Brisbane's Lord Mayor Campbell Newman has confirmed water restrictions will soon be imposed in south-east Queensland because of the drought.
The Wivenhoe, Somerset and North Pine dams supply water to 13 councils in the south-east and are down to 41 per cent capacity.
Lord Mayor Newman says there have been intense negotiations in the last few months about how to fix the problem.
"Next week you'll probably see the announcement of restrictions by south-east Queensland water corporation and the councils," he said.
"So we will see water restrictions, we will see a progressive level of restrictions because we're having such a dry period at the moment."
