You think those answers to your question were petty? You want to talk in terms of the planet? How's this then:
The Earth is only 3 ppm of the mass of the solar system. How insignificant is that?
If you're suggesting it's all too hard to replace fossil fuel energy with renewable energy - then I say let's not give up just yet.
Every year there are more and more solar power plants, wind turbines, geothermal power plants, wave energy installations etc - and lots of people have cut their power bills by switching to solar pv. Hybrid and electric cars are becoming more popular and cheaper each year as well.
You might be a quitter - lots of people aren't.
