I actually think there are points both ways, and previous contributors haven't mentioned the vital points as far as I can see. Companies with few shares on the register are fantastic to be in when things are going well, becuase they go like ferraris......and if you want a good example, look at TRH.But the downside to this is they can also fall like gold balloons in bad times. They are also more susceptible to BOT high frequency trading action, and that is the end of the mkt that I have observed those mongrels target. But a large register dampens share moves in good times and in bad. It depends what you are after, but if you would like to see some decent sp moves upwards, it is less likely with a big register.

The other issue I have heard is that some investment houses, particularly some in the USA, won't/can't invest in companies with a share price lower than a $1. That figure probably varies, and it is surprising that it is not based on mkt cap, but there you go. I have heard that keeping the sp low (via a huge register) limits the entry of some institutional investment houses on to your register.

Lastly, it is annoying to see people judging consolidations but ignoring general mkt behaviour in the process...and OZL is a good case....all the big base metal houses are falling badly at present. Its actually a worry.
