    Bossdog,

Mate, how uninformed you must be. Next time you post on HC, how about getting your head out of the sand and post some facts, not rumours.

You talk about concept of reality. The unions have never had a 15% pay rise so where did that figure come from? Pilots are asking for 2.8%, hardly anywhere near 15%. You and others like Webzone are responsible for misleading the public on what demands the workforce are putting on QAN.

If you look at the recent history of wage rises and voluntary 18 month wage freezes (both Pilots and Cabin Crew), you will find that the average wage rise in the last 10 years has been about 2-3%. I would hardly think these types of claims are out of order or excessive. If you are so right, give us one example of any union achieving any rise of more than 5% pa. Bet you can't!

The sky is not falling in, QAN will still exist and make money (if it stays out of Asia). Like Slura though, I have concerns for my investor dollars and personally believe that fixing the fundamentals at QAN (Long Haul, Short Haul and Regional) will create a better company and lift patronage, revenue and investor confidence.

Finally, you are very wrong my friend about unions not caring about Qantas. Many of the union members have worked for QAN for 2-3 decades, sometimes more than 4. QAN is and has been their whole life. These workers are very gratefully employed and passionate about what QAN stands for. You have to remember, these guys and girls have belonged to a company that was once revered around the world for it standards in excellence. Sadly, these standards went out the window when Executive Management started to receive obscene bonus for employing Slash and Burn techniques company wide and most don't like it, including me as an investor. The reason they are standing up to the company is not all about money. Yes they would like more (like we all do to keep up with inflation) but some (like the Pilots) are more concerned with the flawed direction management are currently taking the company in. If the workers stand by and let A. Joyce, G. Dixon (yes he is still sucking money out of QAN) and others get their way, there will be nothing left of the once great icon that QAN is, and the former executives will be extremely rich after having sucked all that was on offer on the gravy train.

    Surfrat.
