hmmm governments dont create assets that produce income?
you mean like.....
ports (docking fees)
roads (fuel excise, license fees)
bridges (tolls, fuel excise, license fees)
communications infrastructure (Telstra, NBN)
irrigation systems, dams, pipelines to deliver water for domestic and commercial purposes (water rights, rates)
electricity generation (electricity bill)
university education (hecs fees)
health systems (medicare, insurance)
council infrastructure (rates)
fire and emergency services (rates)
synchrotron (beam time fees)
schools and education both huge consumers of tax dollars (income for the government) could be privatised just like Telstra and be commercial enterprises
in fact just about any arm of government that pays for itself can go into private hands. Probably only the military and judicial system could never.
