On another level it is powerful argument as to why the financial sector around the world is WAY too large and serves no other purpose than to 'make a buck'.
The number of derivatives that serve no real purpose other than to allow for manipulation astounds me. There are many derivatives that serve a useful purpose such as allowing producers to forward sell and lock in prices for goods but some are just rubbish. Anyway I preach too much it is the world as we know it and must deal with ....
