Kincella,
You'll need some sort of internet access to your photos for a 'link', and I understand your computer files by themselves won't work as an access point, that's why you need Flikr or Photobucket.
Also by resizing the photos you are making them so small, that they cannot easily be used for print media as they will be so grainy and pixellated. They will look good on a monitor, but the resolution is way too small for a photo print, thereby giving you some protection on quality and copyright.
There was a lady selling photo coasters down at the Cowes market, photos that she had taken and inserted into these coaster acrylic frames. I believe they sell these on ebay, particularly if you look up Cross Stitch coaster frames. Another idea is to print your photos onto postcard sized paper (perhaps 2 up on A4) and cut them down, stamp a postcard logo on the reverse (which you can get from a scrapbooking shop). Turn them into picture cards too by printing them out and gluing the photos onto card weight paper which has been carefully folded. The possibilities are endless.
Cheers,
