debono, there are tourists and there are mug tourists; and there are areas where tourists visit, and areas where mug tourists congregate. On this forum we have heard many people pay compliments to Indonesia and say how much they enjoyed their holiday and how friendly the people are. Then there are others who have nothing but contempt for the place and the people and only complain about being ripped off or setup in shady drug deals, or at least relate stories about others they have heard about. It is generally accepted that life is what YOU make of it, and my experience in Indonesia is that if you act in a respectful and genuine manner it will ALWAYS be reciprocated. On the other hand if you go looking for trouble you will find it. If any tourist has gotten themselves into trouble then it is pretty certain that they are partly, in not solely to blame and therefore are the mug tourists. As I recall from previous exchanges your total time in Indonesia can be counted in days rather than weeks, months or years. You had better get started and try and learn something about the place because so far you haven't got a clue, you need to listen to those who have.
