The big problem with that very sensible view is that it is racist.
Who said so? The left wing lawyers who flourished under the Labor governments and had all these definitions written overtly and covertly into Federal and State laws.
Over the last few years I've had a lot to do with Lawyers and have been suprised at the strength of the profession's ideological leaning to the left.
Coming from a family of Mathematicians, Engineers, the Occasional Physician and one Psychiatrist (always one black sheep in the family). We always thought lawyers were a little suspect in the smarts department.
My experience of watching them in court and having to explain the details of a case to them confirms that.
