I have noticed over the last 2 months that there have been several near-end-of-day massive spike rallies that are seemingly short lived when the next day or two pans out.

Given the way everything spiked up, I wonder if someone had some algos or HFT strategies trigger buys, close shorts or something similar off the back of that that FT artile causing the run up.
