singas, there's a difference between religious gear and choice of fashion. So far as I'm concerned, neither, a school uniform nor a religious uniform should enter the educational arena, which should deal with "education."
Reading, writing, rithmitis, geography, philosophy, psychology, even religious studies (in fact, religious and cultural studies should be very high on the curriculum if we are to teach some sensitivity and human understanding) should be what schools are about.
The student will be neither a better or a worse one because of his/her clothes, so long as they are modest.
Insulting them does not progress the argument. Insulting them gives them even higher and more intollerable strees levels, which, if they become too difficult for them, will bring about suicide, homicide, terrible social behaviour, which, in the end will cost all those whingeing tax payers (Oh, my taxes! Oh, my taxes! Look where they're wasted!) a great deal more and bring about a less happy and contented society.
