The number of news items devoted to this revamp of Aust Post services, and the prominence given to the new 24hr collection parcel locker systems shows that TZL/PAD is on the cusp of some serious mainstream brand recognition.

Brilliant idea - good to see AusPost finally adapting!

    It's about time!

This is SO long in coming - I can't believe I'm reading it! This was needed 15 years ago, became urgent 10 years ago - and like so many monopolies - only when the situation has become "too late critical" - so they bother doing anything.

Absolutely brilliant! I get about 5 or 6 left cards a month and find it very difficult to get to the PO to pick them up, so this will be a great alternative.

I've long been asking for parcel lockers. I've not been at home to receive a parcel for years, but instead check the online tracking until I see the missed delivery notice and go to the depot on the way home (thus ensuring I can make it in business hours).

If there is a way I can get AusPost to text or email me when pickup is ready, I see it as a massive money saver for them, as they won't require as many fruitless mail runs and the ensuing double handling.

Yes, good idea the parcel locker. We went away recently and I wasn't home to collect a parcel. Had to wait until today for successful delivery. If I could go to the post office, enter a pin or something and get my parcel, great!

I really like the concept of the after hours pickup service. It would be a fantastic change.

    This is good news.

Just a word for the whingers, if your so unhappy with the service level of Australia Post, then why not use another service, they are out there....... ................oh that's right everyone else charges like a wounded bull for anything they offer that looks remotely like service.

Bottom line Australia Post has been pretty cheap and reliable way to move things around the country.

love the parcel locker idea ,because i regularly order dietary supplements and medications which i am not at home to receive

I would love the locker offering to extend to food items also

well done aussie post and tz

This what they should do merge a 7-11 or some other store open 24hrs with a post office ie it is open 24 hrs a day. Suggesting people pay for a parcel box is ridiculous. Keep the post office open all the time. After hrs you can only pick up parcels, letters not post, and buy stamps and letters. There is no reason people cannot pay bills 24 /7 though, as you normally can do at a post office. You just can't post items at say 2am. This is what Australia post should do buy all the 7-11 store ie buy 7-11 in Australia and close post offices and sell the land where, appropriate to help pay for it , and make money from running 7-11s and post offices, in the one building. 7-11 is prefect as the scale of its business matches a post office. You can have franchises like you do now in post offices just instead of 7-11 owning the parent company Australia post does. Post offices now sell lots of items that have nothing to do with post ie country music cds. In the country many post offices are already merged with general stores, just open the general stores a little bit later, earlier or allows customers to get parcels at say 8pm. I think now that the store maybe open but the post office part closes at 5 pm? Its easy to solve.
