As most thinking people realise, things already are not "working as intended". For better than 10,000years we have benefited from a relatively stable climate and atmospheric Carbon dioxide levels have been in balance. Once we started burning fossil fuels we changed that balance and our industrial scale savaging of our vegetation has made things worse.
Our modest carbon tax is estimated by the conservatives to cost each of us $20 a week. For most of us this is a pittance and the rest get compensated. The two most populous countries in the world are actively pursuing carbon abatement and so should we.
If Abbott gets to be Prime Minister he will smirk at the cameras and admit he lied about repealing, undoing, undressing, regressing, regassing... call it what you will. We will have a carbon tax and it will slowly impact on our abuse of our atmosphere with fossil carbon pollution.
This will be the easy option for Abbott and no one will be able to say they weren't forewarned. Abbott has already freely admitted that he is a liar.
"Regulatory taking" is a delusion bacci and I suspect you know it is. A conservative government will not steal from their traditional support base but that is exactly what you are suggesting.
