True Opaline. I vistited the government website and tried out their carbon tax estimator. It only takes average estimates into account when analysing how much the tax will cost a family but the compensation is a flat amount based on income. In my case of two adults and three kids we would come out about even if we fitted the average stereotype. But as we have solar power and hot water the carbon tax we will pay is well below the average so we will be well in front after compensation. Although it's all no big deal anyway as we are talking about a few hundred dollars a year. Making the polluters pay is OK by me even though I remain an AGW skeptic. Dave R.
