Bruce you need to really need to think before you write.
"that its ok to say something and have others believe what you have said then do something completely opposite for no GOOD reason?"
1st point she said she want a market based price on carbon but did want a direct price eg a tax.
2nd point a tax is still a price on carbon so its not the opposite to a market based mechanism.
3rd point to do nothing would be to do the complete opposite to what had she promised.
4th point the reason is an emissions reduction the same emission reduction promised by the coalition , that is a good reason.
5th point the change of circumstances was going from majority government to minority government. An election caused the change , we call that democracy.
6th point , being a minority government means you can not do exactly what you promised you need to make deals and make compromises to your original position. Any idoit can see that is the case , if you think otherwise you are deluded.
The tax is a stepping stone to the promised market based mechanism promised by the Coalition and ALP in 2007 and the ALP in 2010.
If the coalition had kept their 2007 promise we would not even be talking about a short term tax at all.
You lot seem to only be able to focus on a few small sound bites and want to ignore the debate that has been going on for the last five years and you seem to want to forget what was promised to the Australian people by the Coaltion in 2007 before it was hijacked by vested interests
