Diligent, Perhaps you did not read the post by Zachary because that is what I was responding to.
However, with regard to the sins of Catholic priests and sins of omission by Catholic Bishops, I can tell you ordinary lay people are appalled. But one thing the official Church is doing is trying to open up about it, it cannot be hidden. I am, frankly, surprised how the Irish Bishops did not get the message long before they did. I think that may help non Catholics abused as children to have the courage to do the same and expose the perpetrators. However, I think some absurd claims are being brought against some priests and religious, all, I suspect, in the name of compensation.
