Hundreds of people may have drowned at sea, and are not even known about since that fateful decision. Another policy failure.
Then Gillard, knowing that things are getting out of control, tried to bring in the East Timor solution. Only she didn't bother to sort it out with the East Timorese first. Another policy failure.
Then it was off to Manus Island, but this didn't get anywhere. Another policy failure.
Then off to this stupid, incomprehensible Malaysian 5 for 1 swap fiasco. A country that canes refugees and isn't a signatory to the UN convention on Refugees. This was a major platform that the ALP and Greens used against Howard over Nauru but all of a sudden it's OK when they are in power. Another policy failure.
Now a humiliating backdown over the Malaysian deal in Parliament, Gillard has dragged this out for over a month knowing full well it would never have passed the Senate without Greens support, yet she and the cheer squad here on Hotcopper want to try and blame Abbott?? Another policy failure.
The PM could solve ALL of these problems TODAY, all she has to do is re-activate Nauru, and if there is a challenge in the Courts to Nauru she knows she has the 100% support of the Opposition to pass legislation to put Nauru beyond doubt.
But it won't happen because they are clueless, blinded by pride and stupidity to sort this problem out.
The Australian people will be brutal, cruel and harsh on this Government come election time.
