It was all complete nonsense as I explained at the time but a fantastic publicity stunt nonetheless, sucking in more losers feeling sorry for themselves.

Since then Chinese and Indian imports have soared, European demand for physical is going ballistic, mints everywhere are selling bullion in record amounts, and yet without backwardation in the futures markets signalling absence of supply stress.

In other words the market is coping just fine, the free market doing its job... to put it another way, price is rising enabling supply to meet demand from the 170,000 tonne hoard.
